Spring signs 2026: Daffodils bloom as black bears emerge | Lehigh Valley Nature Watch

A black bear is treed in June 2024 near Trinity High school in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. As temperatures warm with the start of spring 2026, black bears are emerging from winter dens and may visit yards looking for food.

March is continuing its up-and-down weather. The ice on a small pond in our yard had recently melted, but as I’m writing this it’s once again frozen. Grasses all around it, though, are green, a visible promise of what’s to come.
