Update: Blizzard warning in place for Southern Wayne and Pike County until Monday evening – gusts to hit 45 mph
On Sunday at 9:10 p.m. an updated blizzard warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until Monday at 7 p.m. for Southern Wayne and Pike County.
"Blizzard conditions. Additional snow accumulations between 5 and 12 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph," can be expected according to the weather service. "Blizzard conditions will be possible late tonight into Monday as winds increase. Peak gusts will be near 45 mph, especially in the higher elevations. Even if snow is not falling, freshly fallen snow could be lofted and result in visibilities below 1/4 mile and drifts in open areas."
